IRONBARK OR RED GUM?
Two hardwoods, two different fires. More heat or longer burn? Here's how they compare.

IRONBARK ALONE
- Higher density and energy output than Red Gum - one of the hottest-burning Australian hardwoods
- Very low ash production (<2%), keeping airflow clean in the firebox
- Harder to split and handle due to density; higher cost
VS

RED GUM ALONE
- Slow-burning with a long coal bed
- Strong smoke flavour - good for beef/BBQ but can overpower
VS

COMBINED
(RED GUM BASE + IRONBARK ON TOP)
- Best of both: Red Gum establishes the coal bed, Ironbark supercharges the heat
- Longer burn with less stoking - stays hot overnight
- Cleaner ash load than Red Gum alone
- For BBQ/smoking, Ironbark's cleaner, subtler smoke balances Red Gum's intensity
